CELEBRATING VARIOUS ACHIEVEMENTS IN OUR MORNING ASSEMBLY

Many congratulations to the various groups of pupils who brought their medals, certificates and cups to show and share their success with us in our Whole-school Assembly this morning.

Among them, brother and sister Niamh and Iestyn were celebrating their achievements in gymnastics; Ioan and Iestyn celebrating their success in rugby; Hannah Mari celebrating her success in orienteering; and the four girls Erin, Lucie, Nicole, Sofie and Lili-Gwen celebrating success in gymnastics, with Erin also celebrating her success in karate.

Well done everyone!

GETHIN'S SUCCESSFUL BOOK REVIEW

Congratulations to Gethin, a pupil from year 3, for coming second in a competition that was organised by the Town's Library and the Education Department for World Book Day.

The task was to write a review of their favourite book, and Gethin's choice was 'Minecraft Llawlyfr i Ddechreuwyr'.

Well done Gethin for succeeding in a competition where over 300 children competed. Quite an achievement!

DYFED CROSS COUNTRY

<<Pictured are pupils from Year 4 who ran in the Dyfed Cross Country competition.

Congratulations to all who competed in the Dyfed Cross Country Competition which was held in Carmarthen. Well done especially to Dylan James-Williams of Year 4 for coming 3rd and to Rhys Evans of year 5 for coming 5th in their individual races.
Success also came for the teams with both Year 5 girls' team (Alaw, Gwen and Hannah de Sousa) and the Year 5 boys' team (Rhys, Iestyn and Elis) coming 2nd. Year 4 boys’ team also achieved 2nd place.

Well done to everyone who competed.

YEAR 4 VISIT CWMRHEIDOL POWER STATION

During Science Week this year, Year 4 pupils had the chance to revisit Cwm Rheidol Power Station to see all the work they do to produce electricity.

Thank you to everyone that guided us around the buildings and also for explaining everything so clearly.

Thank you also for letting us wear bright orange helments! We felt very important!

THE AELWYD'S FRAME RETURNS TO THE SCHOOL

An interesting piece of embroidery has made its new home in Ysgol Gymraeg.

The embroidery was created to mark the twenty fifth anniversary of the foundation of the Aelwyd in Aberystwyth. The embroidery lists the names of the members of the Aelwyd during the period 1933 – 1958 and includes the names of many famous Welsh people including Mary Vaughan Jones,  T H Parry Williams and Ifan ab Owen Edwards.

SUCCESS FOR THE SCHOOL'S NETBALL TEAM

Congratulations to the school's netball team on their recent success in winning the Aberystwyth Area Netball Tournament.

The tournament was held at the Leisure Centre courts with the girls winning every match during the afternoon.

Well done girls!

Y PWYLLGOR ECO YN DIOLCH I MORRISONS

The Eco Committee would like to thank everyone for collecting the Morrisons ‘Let’s grow’ vouchers this year again.

We used all the 17 thousand vouchers to purchase items for the class and school garden.

Thank you Morrisons.

SUCCESS FOR THE GILRS

Congratulations to the school's football team on their success in the Urdd's latest 7-a-side football tournament.

The girls managed the beat other school teams in Ceredigion on a very busy day at Blaendolau fields in Aberystwyth.

Good luck to them in the national round which will be held in Aberystwyth next month.

ARAD GOCH'S #OPENINGDOORS FESTIVAL

During this week (April 1st - 4th) Arad Goch is holding a 'Opening Doors Festival'.

We are very lucky as a school that we (children from nursery to year 6) have all had the chance to see different performances during the week, starting with Georgia Ruth, a past pupil of the school.

Nursery had a full morning of music and instruments as well as a chance to experiment with a variety of instruments themselves - they were fantastic!

Thank you Arad Goch for organising this fantastic festival - we're looking forward to next year already!

E-SAFETY WORKSHOP

Year 6 were fortunate recently to receive a visit from students at the University to discuss e-safety with them.

As children and adults, our use of the internet is growing annually, therefore it is vital that we learn how to stay safe while browsing, and to learn how to use the internet sensibly ourselves.

Many discussions took place during the afternoon and we would like to thank the students for their guidance during a very informative and interesting session.
