A VISIT BY CHILDREN'S POET LAUREATE FOR WALES |
It was a privilige to welcome the multi-talented Aneirin Karadog to the school as he continues on his journey around the country as the National Children's Poet Laureate. Many pupils from years 4,5 & 6 enjoyed playing with rhymes and creating lines and verses of poetry with Aneirin. Their ideas were developed into raps which were eventually performed to the rest of the group. Many thanks to Aneirin for his company and to Literature Wales for organising the visit |

Congratulations to Erin of Year 5 on her success in winning the first round in this year's Urdd Cogurdd cooking competition. Erin was one of 24 competing pupils cooking a couscous salad during the Urdd Club to decide who went on to represent the school in the next round against Ceredigion's finest. Many thanks to Gwesty Cymru's main chef for adjudicating, to all the pupils who competed and to the staff for their assistance. Good luck Erin in the next round at Ysgol Bro Pedr on February 20th. |
WHOLE SCHOOL ASSEMBLY LED BY THE HEALTH&SAFETY COMMITTEE |
"Wednesday morning we gave a presentation to the whole schools on our role so far this year in being the school's Health and Safety Committee. We showed photographs on how to stay safe in the areas around the school, as well as outside of school, especially when crossing the road. We hope the children enjoyed our presentation, as well as learning something new." Glesni and Lisa, Year 6 |

FOOTBALL IN YEAR 2 THANKS TO ABERYSTWYTH FC ACADEMY |
Year 2 pupils were delighted today when Stewart visited us from the Football Academy in Aberystwyth to hold a fun footballing session. During the session we also saw a huge increase in the children's ability and skills on the ball - do we have a future Gareth Bale in our midst possibly? Many thanks to Stewart for his visit today. |

CLEARING THE PROM FOLLOWING THE RECENT STORM |
Thank you to everyone who helped clear the promenade on Saturday morning following the recent storm. Pictured is Mr Williams with the school's pupils and ex-pupils along with their parents. As you can see they've been very busy clearing the sand back onto the beach. To watch Mr Williams' interview on the BBC website, click here |

SUCCESS IN PHOTOGRAPHY |
Many congratulations to Ella of Year 3 on her fantastic achievement in winning the primary school category in the FfotoAber competition for 2013. The competition was held at the end of October, but unfortunately we didn't have a copy of the photograph to display - until now! And looking at the excellent photo - it was well worth the wait! Very well done Ella!

CLIMBING KILIMANJARO |
We were delighted to welcome back Celyn Kenny to the school (you'll remember Celyn visited us during June last year - read story) Celyn brought a friend with her this time - Gwenno Healy - and the two showed us photographs and shared their experiences of climbing Kilimanjaro in aid of Childreach International last August with us. At the end of their visit, members of the school's Humanitarian Committe presented them with a cheque of £262.00 - money raised by selling cakes during the summer term last year. |
