A VISIT BY THE ARTIST JOHN PIPER

During this term Year 4 have been studying the work of the artist John Piper. On Friday, November 16th, Clarissa Lewis, John Piper’s daughter visited Year 4. The children had a very enjoyable afternoon looking at various examples of his work including two originals that had been exhibited in The Tate Gallery in London. They also saw examples of pottery, fabric, stained glass windows, theatrical works and drawings he produced as a war artist during the 2nd World War. The children were fascinated by the photographs of John Piper as a child and at the pictures he drew when he was five years old. They had the opportunity to ask questions and to learn about Clarissa Lewis’ memories of her father, the artist, John Piper.
